WHAT IS IT
This program is a workforce development initiative designed to support participants in gaining hands-on experience in the food and hospitality industry. Through a four-month training period, trainees will receive practical, on-the-job training at a small business and a partner hotel, allowing them to develop essential skills, build confidence, and gain industry knowledge. In addition to hands-on experience, participants will receive guidance and support to help them successfully transition into the workforce.
WHAT WE DID
The six-month Uplift Workforce Development Program equipped participants for stable employment through four months of hands-on workplace training alongside targeted workshops. Participants improved their skills through ESL classes, resume building, domestic worker rights sessions, and a "Civics Do’s and Don’ts" workshop hosted with NYPD Immigrant Affairs. The program concluded with a graduation ceremony celebrating their readiness to confidently enter the workforce.
Civic’s Do’s and Don’t workshop
The Civics Do’s and Don’ts Workshop was a collaborative session provided to our cohort in partnership with NYPD Immigrant Affairs. This workshop aimed to educate participants on their rights and responsibilities as community members, covering essential topics such as interacting with law enforcement, understanding local laws, and navigating civic life safely. Through this training, participants gained valuable knowledge on best practices for community engagement, ensuring they are informed, empowered, and aware of the resources available to them.
