WHAT IS IT​

Promise NYC provides child care assistance to low-income families with children whose immigration status makes them ineligible for federally funded subsidized care. This includes families with undocumented children. 

 

This program is intended for:
Children from 0 to 13 years of age
Families with income less than 300% of the federal poverty level
Your household income is below 300% of the Federal Poverty Level, which means a household of:
2 with income under $4,578 per month ($54,930 per year) 
3 with income under $5,758 per month ($69,090 per year) 
4 with income under $6,938 per month ($83,250 per year) 
5 with income under $8,118 per month ($97,410 per year)

La Colmena will help enroll eligible families in Promise NYC and support the search, selection, and enrollment of families in a child care program.

WHAT WE DID

Through the Promise NYC program, we helped families secure childcare vouchers, enrolling 23 children—78.3% of whom are between 2–4 years old. Our diverse cohort includes families from Russia, Israel, Nicaragua, Colombia, Peru, Venezuela, Ghana, Ecuador, and Mexico, with 43% currently residing in shelters and 56% in rental units. To deliver this vital support, we partner closely with home-based and family daycare providers throughout Staten Island.
